Mission

‘Watchful Consumers’ magazine is committed to enhancing consumer welfare and empowering consumers to protect themselves. Consumers include consumers of goods and services, purchasers, mortgagors and lessees of immovable property and consumers of the financial market. It advocates for consumer interests, it facilitates constructive discussion and promulgation of pro-consumer policies and empower consumers to help themselves. It is playing a vital role in educating the cross sections of the society about their legal & constitutional rights so that people can become alert and vigilant consumers. We are also highlighting the issues of those thousands of people who fell ill in India every year because of adulteration, contamination in the food items, vegetables, fruits, potable water and pollution in the air.

Our concern is also to empower the women folks because they are better placed to face the challenges of consumerism. Women and children are one of the major segments of the consumers, so without educating them in this area our social and economic growth is virtually impossible in society. ‘Watchful Consumers’ is set out to recruit many of the journalists whose work we have long respected and admired: those who have a proven track record of breaking boundaries, taking risks, and producing innovative, rigorous journalism. Our main mission is to hold the most powerful governmental and corporate factions accountable, and to do so, we will report on a wide and varied range of issues. Financial consumer in India is struggling to cope up with unfair consumer service practices being followed by financial institutions such as lack of transparency and disclosure, hidden charges, penalties, mis-selling of financial products, sale of unsolicited products-often by bundling them with other products, improper recovery practices and others. ‘Watchful Consumers’ is also committed to educate and protect these consumers.
